Portable Gas Analyzers
Portable gas analyzers comprise a significant portion of the Nova Analytical product line. These types of instruments are generally used for intermittent or temporary analysis of individual sample points in a facility.
Discussion
The small size of portable analyzers limits the available internal space for sample conditioning components. This means that they are not equipped to do long-term analysis of challenging sample gases. However, they are ideal for spot-check and tuning applications.
Cabinet Styles
a) Suitcase (K & KX) – The profile of this cabinet with its suitcase-style carry handle makes it easy to travel with. The cabinet is a hard-shelled polycarbonate plastic which is weather-proof when closed. The analyzer opens up to allow access to the displays and controls. There are 2 different styles of these suitcase cabinets available. One has the display inside the cabinet. The other has the display mounted on the outside of the cabinet, to allow visibility of readings even when the case in closed.
b) Bench Top (BT) – For lab applications, the bench top cabinet is available. It is basically a rectangular box with a carry handle and displays on the end facing the user. These cabinets do not offer any weather protection. However, the larger internal volume often allows additional opportunities to integrate more sample conditioning components and features than the other cabinet styles.
c) Special Purpose Suitcase (K) – For some applications, a slightly larger suitcase style cabinet is available. The larger internal volume often allows additional opportunities to integrate a few more features than our other standard suitcase style cabinet.

Sample Conditioning
Most Nova portable gas analyzers have some form of filtration and condensate collection.
In some cases, a sample may be too hot or wet even for a temporary analysis. A portable gas chiller is a good option in this case. Nova offers the Model 2000 Portable TE Chiller for this purpose.
