HUMAN RESOURCES PROFESSIONAL – Tenova Goodfellow Inc., Mississauga, ON

Tenova Goodfellow Inc. (TGI) is seeking a Human Resources professional responsible for administering and overseeing all aspects of the Company’s human resources policies and functions.  Reporting to  Tenova’s head-office personnel in Castellanza, Italy and working for TGI’s CEO in Mississauga, Ontario, the individual will oversee the effective performance of various human resource functions.  The candidate will provide recommendations to Senior Management in establishing human resources policies and plans.  He/she will ensure that human resources activities are carried out in accordance with established company policies and procedures.

This position is available on a part-time basis (approximately 20 hours per week, either employment or consulting contract).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and oversee the implementation of the company’s policies and initiatives on HR and H&S including staffing, salary planning, organizational design, leadership & employee development, compensation  planning including head office variable bonus plans, performance reviews, succession planning, benefits, training, and employee related health and safety matters. Maintain strong focus on identification, selection, on-boarding and retention of world-class talent.
  • Ensure HR and H&S policies and processes are up to date relative to head office policies and local legislation standards. Provide guidance and leadership regarding interpretation and compliance.
  • Ensure all employee files are kept up to date including head count data, compensation data for budgeting purposes, employment contracts and performance review reports (including targets, SAP entry, HQ reports)
  • Ensure effective flow of information to staff and head office regarding company HR and H&S policies/procedures.
  • Oversee all staffing issues including hiring and terminations, employment contract negotiations, severance calculations, student and part-time employment.
  • Provide strategic HR advice including team building, workplace culture, and performance management.
  • Manage operating budget (annually and quarterly) for the delivery of HR programs including new employee programs (e.g. training programs, benefits packages), communication of HR issues, outside services (e.g. consultants, recruiters) and day-to-day expenses

Qualifications – Education and Training:

  • University degree in Human Resources (or similar business related field)
  • CHRP / CHRL designation is preferable

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years related work experience in the HR field

Technical Requirements/Skills

  • Strong knowledge of human resources matters
  • Be up-to-date on Canadian regulatory workplace practices and employee relations procedures
  • Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • SAP R3 HR literate (or equivalent)

Non-Technical and Managerial Ability:

  • Strong planning, time management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material in a discrete and professional manner
  • Willingness to have a “hands-on” pro-active approach to your work
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills (oral and written)
  • Required to make effective presentations
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Highly motivated and self-directed to achieve results within specified deadlines
  • Will require some international travel (e.g. Tenova HQ, conferences)

ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN – Nova Analytical Systems, Hamilton, ON

Assembly and Test Technician: As part of the Final Assembly team, this position requires candidates to work in a team environment to prepare, wire and assemble panels into cabinets for final assembly and testing of industrial gas analyzer products.

Core responsibilities:
Panel and cabinet preparation including drilling, tapping and metal fabrication.  Installation high pressure gas fittings and bending of SS tubing.  Electrical wiring of AC and low voltage devices.  Testing of electronic, electrical, mechanic and gas sensor devices.  Overall system quality control testing.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Troubleshooting equipment, developing standard operating procedures and test documents, assisting in software development, participating in 5S activities and materials management.

Successful candidates will have the necessary skills and experience to assemble and test products to industry standards. The candidate should also demonstrate a strong work ethic, proven performance in a team environment, and a can-do attitude.  All candidates will be evaluated for fit with our core values of respect, quality, trust, creativity, accountability, measurement, communication, strong work ethic, resiliency and teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications

A college level electronics / electrical technician or technologist diploma with 2+ years of related industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to Lean and/or Six Sigma
Experience in a Continuous Improvement environment
Strong manufacturing background in High-Mix Production
Experience in software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, E-Plan, Gerber formats, XML, Visual Basics.
